Commissions Policy 
Makayla Raynes Refined Art


Thank you for choosing Makayla Raynes Refined Art to create a piece of work that is personal to you. Each commissioned piece of artwork is individually created with care and attention to detail. Please read the following policy carefully before confirming your commission.

Commission Pricing
Each commission piece will be valued on an individual basis for each client. 

Prices vary dependant on, though not limited to:

  • Artwork size a4, a3, a2 or custom

  • Materials and medium (graphite, oil, acrylic, pastel and others)

  • Number of animals, topics, themes or subjects subsequent to each piece

  • Level of required detail

  • Background requirements if blurred, detailed, or other

  • Any provided imagery for references

  • Additional or specialised requests, change in the piece being developed

A finalised quote will be provided prior to the beginning of any commissioned work. Any significant change in request discussed may bring upon additional charges.

Quote Duration Period
If payment is to be made after commission piece is received by client:
- Each quote is valid for up to 30 days, after the day the quote is sent to client.
- After the 30 days you will receive a reminder of payment.
- 7 days after your reminder you will receive a late payment flat fee of $20.

In other cases, the artwork will not be released until full payment has been made. After 30 days unpaid, the commission will be considered abandoned. Any deposits made will be kept and are non-refundable.

Deposits

A 50% deposit, non-refundable, is required to secure your position in my schedule for a commission piece. Work will not commence until the deposit is given.

The remaining 50% of your balance is to be paid in full, before the commission piece is collected or shipped to the client.

Reference Photos

Clients are to supply reference photos that are their own or they have permission to use. 

These Photographs are to be clear, high quality, well lit and show the important features and or subject accurately. The quality of the photograph provided by the client will determine the quality of the commission piece you receive.

Timeframes
Timeframes may vary dependant on but not limited to:

  • The size of the artwork

  • Complexity of the artwork

  • My current schedule for commissions

An estimated timeframe will be provided once a commission piece has been booked, though take into account there is no guaranteed date as it is only an estimate. This is because each piece of work is done meticulously by hand.

If the commission is for an occasion (Birthday, Christmas, anniversary) this will need to be discussed before your booking.

Progress & Changes
Updates may be provided at certain stages of the artwork being created.

Any adjustments considered to be minor are to be discussed during this stage. Any major adjustments such as, but not limited to:

  • Change in composition

  • Change in reference Photo

  • Change in subject / or agree concept

  • Adding Additional subjects

May incur additional fees, or may not be possible.

Artist Interpretation
By choosing me as an artist for your commission, you are choosing my artistic style. While I always aim for likeness, character, and important details as accurately as I can. Every piece is handcrafted meticulously and is subject to artistic interpretation.

Cancellations & Refunds
Your deposit of 50% is non-refundable.

If you make the decision to cancel your commission piece after work has begun, you will be liable to pay for the amount of work that has already been done, exceeding the deposit price.

Copyright & Reproduction

A condition when accepting a commission from Makayla Raynes Refined Art, the client agrees all production rights and copyright in the commissioned work will remain with Makayla Raynes Refined Art.

As a client you will be purchasing a physical art piece only. Commissioning or purchasing the original art piece does not grant clients the right to reproduce, copy, sell reproductions of, commercially use, alter for commercial purposes or create merchandise from any artwork made by Makayla Raynes Refined Art.

Makayla Raynes Refined Art retains the right to photograph, scan and reproduce the artwork and its images for use on portfolios, social media, websites, advertising and other promotional purposes. 

For commission artwork where the work is intended for anniversaries such as Christmas, Birthdays, or surprises etc. The client may request that images of the artwork are not publicly shared until an agreed on date. 

Any commercial use by the client or reproduction, licensing or other use by the client must be agreed to in writing each separately.

All terms form part of the commission agreement and are agreed to by the client when the commission is confirmed and the deposit is made.
